Interval Training, Kick Your Cardio Exercises to the Next Level

Interval Training

Interval training are workouts that alternate between high-intensity and low-intensity levels of effort. This style of cardio exercise help burn calories long after you’ve stopped working out. Calories burned is a key to weight loss.

You can use these workouts any way you want- running, cycling, swimming, cardio equipment, or even by walking if you alternate speed walking and slowly walking. If you use machines to do your cardio exercises I don’t recommend using an “interval workout” option. Chose the manual option. This gives you greater control over intensities and speeds.

The best part of doing intervals… You can benefit from a 20 minute workout. As your strength and endurance builds you may want to add time or add an extra interval a week. I don’t recommend doing more than two a week-you may be burning some mad calories, but you could also Burnout!

I’ve included many options for your intervals based on different types of equipment and workout styles. These are just guidelines that can be adjusted to create your own interval training sessions.

These workouts do not require a great deal of equipment. Also they can be done almost anywhere, in any way. The only thing I recommend is a good a heart rate monitor. The Timex one pictured above is the one I use when I do
